The Plaintiff Charities Grant Program supports charities focused on supporting plaintiffs. Grant requests between $5,000 and $15,000 are considered for organizations advancing care coordination, advocacy, and other direct services. We aim to grow the network of organizations across the United States that provide care and support to plaintiffs and plaintiff causes. Thanks to Forward Giving Inc. and the Plaintiff Recovery Trust for providing $250,000 of our initial funding.
The Plaintiff Fund helps injured plaintiffs pay for uncovered medical expenses. Plaintiffs can raise funds online without jeopardizing their eligibility for Medicaid and other needs-based benefits. Backed by Help Hope Live, the Fund is a secure, community-driven way to bridge the gap between injury and recovery.
The Plaintiff Recovery Trust (PRT) regularly increases plaintiff after-tax recoveries by 50%. In taxable cases it can avoid the “plaintiff double tax,” made permanent by the “Big Beautiful Bill.” Without the PRT, many plaintiffs are taxed on the contingent fee portion of their recovery, including in cases with punitive damages, post-judgment interest, emotional distress, fraud, and defamation. A portion of each PRT goes to charity.
This grant is for charities that directly help plaintiffs. That includes many organizations that support people with injury-related needs, expand access to care, assist during recovery, or protect civil rights.
